So lets get some updates done on the s14. I picked up a GTR diff/axle setup off a mate that was wrecking a R32 GTR. Cleaned it all up and swapped on a normal R200 input flange onto the diff so it was all ready to go in.
Finished enlarging the gearbox tunnel.
There is probably only one major thing I regret a little with this build and that was tubing the front. I originally decided to tube the front for wheel clearance as our plan was running 18's up front. Our focus with drifting has changed over the years, with a bigger focus on better driving and with that our car styling has changed slightly too. Now the plan is to a run less aggressive wheel setup up front so the tube frame was not so necessary. Any way, all that work is completed now and I am more than happy with how it all panned out. Rough cuts on one side.
and the radiator support gone.
This is another part that has changed during the build. Here I'm working on a mount for the MR2 electric powersteering pump I originally intended to use. I have since gone back to the stock pump in favor of simplicity.
I must of forgot to take some photos of the further cutting on the factory sheet metal but here is the majority of the front tube work finished.
The aforementioned Mr2 powersteering pump mount.
Seam welded strut towers.
Plates ready for radiator support brackets to be welded on.
Lower radiator mounts welded on.
I welded in these threaded bosses for the castor arm brackets to bolt to.
I'm using the same SR20 motor from my previous 180SX in this car. Test fitted it up
then decided to give it a bit of a clean up. It certainly needed it being covered in dirt and grime after a couple of years of drifting abuse.
